ELIZA HEMENWAY, M.A., is a documentary filmmaker and media artist who has worked in still photography, radio and film. She is the founder and director of Trinity Productions, as well as the founder of the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival. In addition, Eliza is a film reviewer for KRCB-FM and has served as a guest judge for several Bay Area film festivals.

Eliza began her career as a still photographer. She earned her B.F.A. at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Tufts University where she studied documentary photography and liberal arts. During her undergraduate education Hemenway created and directed an award winning photography program for inner city youth. She completed two documentary series, A Code of Silence and Down the Mississippi River, both of which were exhibited widely in the greater Boston area.

After relocating to San Francisco, Eliza began working at the photography, film and video department at UC Berkeley Extension where she took numerous film and video courses. After completing her first documentary, Keep it Rolling, she decided to pursue a career in documentary filmmaking and earned a M.A. in media studies.

Hemenway’s recent documentary film, Uncommon Knowledge, has screened in numerous film festivals and venues throughout the Bay Area including the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Roxie Film Center, San Francisco Frozen Film Festival, International Labor Fest, SURGE Film Festival, San Francisco Public Library, Academy of Art College, San Francisco State University, and more. Media coverage of Uncommon Knowledge includes articles and interviews in the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Berkeley Daily Planet, KPFA-FM, KQED-FM, KRCB FM, Film and Tape World, and Film Arts Magazine. Eliza is currently working on Family Matters, a series of films exploring themes of marriage, divorce, and raising children.

Eliza is the proud mother of her beautiful daughter Katherine. Mother and daughter live in Northern California with their two dogs.
